Venting & Chimney Systems

Proper venting is critical for safety, performance, and long-term reliability. Venting is a critical part of how any hearth product operates safely and efficiently. Proper venting allows an appliance to perform the way it was designed to — safely, efficiently, and reliably.

Why Venting Matters

Venting plays a major role in how any hearth product performs. Proper venting affects draft, efficiency, heat output, and long-term reliability. When venting is poorly designed or improperly installed, even a high-quality appliance can struggle to operate as intended.

Correct venting helps maintain consistent draft, reduces smoke and odor issues, and allows the appliance to burn cleanly and efficiently. It also protects the system from premature wear caused by buildup, overheating, or improper airflow.

Venting isn’t just about exhausting smoke or gases. It’s about making sure the entire system works together the way it was designed to.

Designed Systems — Not Just Pipe

We design venting systems as part of a complete hearth installation whenever possible. The appliance, venting path, clearances, and home layout all work together to affect safety and performance.

For full installations, that design process starts during the in-home estimate. We evaluate existing chimneys or vent paths, confirm appliance requirements, and plan routing and materials based on performance, safety, and code requirements — not convenience.

We also supply venting components separately when appropriate. In those cases, venting products are selected based on the appliance specifications provided and the intended application. Proper sizing, clearances, and installation remain the responsibility of the installer.

When venting is designed and installed correctly, the result is a system that supports proper operation, meets code requirements, and performs reliably over time.

Wood Stove & Insert Venting

Wood-burning appliances require properly sized and rated chimney systems to ensure safe draft and clean operation. We design venting solutions that meet manufacturer requirements and code, whether you’re relining an existing chimney or installing new venting.

Common solutions include:

  • Insulated chimney systems

  • Stainless steel chimney liners

  • Through-roof and through-ceiling installs

  • Clearance and heat-shield considerations

Pellet Stove & Insert Venting

Pellet appliances use specialized venting designed for controlled exhaust and efficient operation. Proper layout and termination are critical for performance and reliability.

Common solutions include:

  • Pellet vent pipe systems

  • Through-wall venting

  • Vertical and hybrid vent runs

  • Proper termination and clearances

Gas Fireplace & Insert Venting

Gas appliances rely on sealed direct-vent systems to safely exhaust combustion gases while maintaining efficiency. Correct venting ensures safe operation and clean indoor air.

Common solutions include:

  • Direct-vent pipe systems

  • Co-linear venting for inserts

  • Exterior wall or roof terminations

  • Manufacturer-approved configurations

Venting Brands We Use

We use venting components from established manufacturers known for reliability, code compliance, and long-term performance. Venting products are selected based on the appliance and application — not brand preference alone.

Brands we commonly install include:

  • DuraVent

  • DuraTech

  • Selkirk
